Be Prepared

Security Policy

Team Ortho Foundation and Monster Dash are taking security precautions to keep this event as safe as we can.

  • Bag drop bags will be available at packet pick-up and on race day and will be clear in color. You must use the clear bag on race day.   If you bring your own bag to bag check specifically, we reserve the right to inspect it for security purposes.
  • Spectators should leave backpacks and big purses at home.  If they are brought into the race area, they will be subject to inspection.
  • We ask that participants and spectators be aware and respectful of sirens and emergency vehicles that may end up on the course.  If you hear or see an emergency vehicle, please move to the side of the road.
  • St. Paul Police will be enforcing no pedestrian traffic on Spring Street, which is the road right in front of the shops and residences near our finish line.  Please be respectful of this enforcement.  Residents want to be supportive of our event, but when their one and only exit/ entry is clogged by people it can be frustrating for them.  Spectators and participants are asked to watch the race from the north side of the course instead of along Spring Street.

Team Ortho has other additional security measures in place at all points on the course.

Half Marathon & 10 Mile

The 2016 Half Marathon and 10-Mile Monster Dash course in St. Paul is fast, beautiful and entertaining.  Did we say fast?  You just might PR on this course which is all downhill (400 vertical feet total from start to finish)!

Combined with the beautiful fall foliage, the start of the race is spectacular! It begins near the picturesque Cathedral of St. Paul which overlooks the city. Participants will run the tree-lined course along historic Summit Avenue and finish in Downtown St. Paul at the Mighty Mississippi (See course info).  The chip-timed race is USATF certified.

And if you can handle it-- challenge yourself to run the distance in costume!  You could win our costume contest! But make sure you run with it on first-- we can guarantee fun but we cannot guarantee "no chafing".

Costume Contest

A great feature of the Monster Dash races is the funny and creative costumes that runners come up with.  Some run the 5K -- while others run 10-Mile or Half Marathon all decked out in their Halloween costumes!  We invite you to do the same (with one tip, you might want to practice running in it before race day)!

Here are the categories to get you brainstorming on a great costume.  Awards for the winners will be announced at the post race party.

Costume contest participants must be registered for the Monster Dash to qualify.
